U.S. Bank Donates $100,000 to Nonprofit Organizations in Recognition of Volunteer Work of 138 Employees

On of the Team Ahn Elite competition coaches, Master David Earnest, was recently selected for the U.S. Bank Five Star Volunteer Award for his work with Taekwondo Development Partners. Please see the U.S. Bank Press Release below.

Minneapolis (July 2010) - U.S. Bank has selected this year's recipients of its annual Five Star Volunteer Award, honoring employees for their exceptional volunteer service in the community. Through this program, U.S. Bank will contribute a total of $100,000 to nonprofit organizations in recognition of the 138 volunteers located in 28 states.

Recipients of the U.S. Bank Five Star Volunteer Award were chosen based on criteria such as depth of volunteer service and community impact. Nominations for the Five Star Volunteer Award were submitted by employees, coworkers and the organizations where U.S. Bank employees volunteer.

"Volunteers play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of many nonprofit organizations that make a great impact in our local communities," said John Pacheco, director of the U.S. Bancorp Foundation. "At U.S. bank, we are proud of our employees who give their personal time to serve a cause or organization that's important to them, and we're pleased to honor these outstanding employee volunteers for their efforts once again this year through the Five Star Volunteer Award."

In addition to the Five Star Volunteer Award, U.S. Bank also encourages its employees to volunteer through its Five Star Volunteer Day program, which allows all eligible employees to take 8 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer in at local organizations of their choice, such as nonprofits, civic agencies, and schools.

Promotion Test - September 10th

On Friday, September 10th we will be having a promotion test. The test begins at 5:30 pm with white belt testing. Please make sure that your testing application is submitted to the main school no later than Thursday at 7:30 pm.

Please note that there will be no classes held on Friday the 10th.

Banana Split Club Ice Cream Social

Just a reminder...if you are interested in joining the Ahn TKD Demo team, please attend the meeting at 3:30 pm. We'll be going over the details of the team and planning for upcoming demos.

Also, from 6:30 - 10 pm, the Jr. Black Belt Society is hosting a Teen Party for everyone ages 12 -18. Bring your friends, family, neighbors for a great time -- no Taekwondo involved. Come for food, activities, and even some magic.

The Ahn Jr. Black Belt Society will be hosting a Teen Party on Saturday, August 21st from 6:30 pm -10:00 pm. Everyone ages 12-18 is invited. Bring your friends! We'll be supplying the food and entertainment. Don't miss it!

Jr. Black Belt Society Service Project

We want to thank the Ahn Jr. Black Belt Society for their service to our school and association. This weekend, they donated their time on Saturday to paint the Black Belt Lounge at the main school. This room is a dedicated space for Jr. and Sr. Black Belt Society members to spend time, hold meetings, and to use the media library contained within.

Breaking Seminar -- February 27th

On Saturday, February 27th, Ahn Taekwondo Institute will be hosting a Competition Breaking Seminar. The seminar will be taught by Master Beyersdoerfer from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Students of all ranks and ages are encouraged to come learn about executing a successful competition breaking routine. Team Ahn a Success at AAU Regionals

On Sunday, February 21st, the members of Team Ahn competed at the AAU Lake Erie Regional Qualifiers in Akron, OH. With a impressive display of skill and sportsmanship, every member of Team Ahn qualified for the AAU National Championships that will be held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL the week of July 4th. We would like to congratualte all the competitors on a job well done!

2010 Chocolate Championship a Success!

On Saturday, January 23rd, Ahn Taekwondo Institute hosted the annual Chocolate Championships. Approximately 80 particpants spent their Saturday morning competing for chocolate bars in forms, breaking, and sparring. The event ran smoothly and quickly, and we would like to thank all of the competitors and volunteers for their participation.
